Dungeons & Dragons has never met a franchise it didn't want to share a dice bag with, and now it's going full multiverse with a new initiative that kicks off with a trip to Azeroth. Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has announced that D&D: World of Warcraft - a sourcebook that transplants Blizzard's beloved MMO setting into the tabletop RPG - will hit shelves on November 17th.

But wait, there's more! A D&D / Star Wars crossover is also in the works, set during the Rebellion era, though details are as scarce as a decent roll on a d20. Expect it sometime in 2027. Both are part of WotC's new "D&D Universes Beyond" initiative, which is clearly hoping to replicate the cash-printing success of the Universes Beyond series for Magic: The Gathering, which launched in 2021. While Magic fans have had mixed feelings about the crossover cards - somewhere between "interesting" and "burn it all down" - the card game remains one of the few things not losing money for Hasbro, WotC's corporate overlord.

D&D: World of Warcraft uses the revised 5th edition Player's Handbook as its foundation, and includes rules for all 13 WoW classes, plus a treasure trove of new spells, magic items, and professions. It also introduces 11 new WoW-themed player species and six subclasses, including the Oath of the Ebon Blade and Oath of the Holy for Paladins, the Demon Hunter Ranger, the Shadow Domain and Discipline Domain for Clerics, and the Path of the Elements Barbarian. So whether you want to smite evil as a Holy Paladin or rage as a Path of the Elements Barbarian, there's something here for every flavor of adventurer.
