Ukraine spent Wednesday reminding the world that when your entire war effort runs on a satellite internet subscription, a slowdown is not a minor inconvenience. Officials warned that any disruption to Starlink services would carry dire consequences, after users reported sluggish speeds.

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov took to social media to announce that SpaceX was reinstating speeds, and thanked company founder Elon Musk for his attention to the issue. Nothing says modern geopolitics quite like a battlefield outcome hinging on a tech CEO's customer service response time.

Meanwhile, President Trump was busy with his own connectivity tour - the terrestrial kind. He scheduled back-to-back campaign stops in Arizona and Montana on Wednesday afternoon as part of a multiday, multistate midterm blitz aimed primarily at red states.

Trump was slated to speak in Bullhead City, Ariz., at 4 p.m. EDT before flying to Kalispell, Mont., for another speech at 8:15 p.m. The trip followed a rare campaign visit to Alaska a day earlier, where he announced pardons for two men convicted of violating the Clean Air Act - a sentence that presumably did not include a Starlink outage.

Sprinkled throughout the evening were several midterm election debates, including gubernatorial matchups in Maine and Iowa, both set for 8 p.m. Alaska's Senate candidates were then scheduled to debate at 10 p.m.

In Texas, Democrat James Talarico took the stage without his opponent, Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), in the Lone Star State's Senate race. Talarico appeared in a televised town hall at 8 p.m. hosted by CNN and Jubilee Media, after repeatedly challenging Paxton to a debate - a challenge that apparently went the way of most Starlink complaints before Fedorov's post.

And if Republicans were hoping for economic relief as they campaign to retain both chambers of Congress, September had other plans. Consumer prices rose 3.7 percent relative to a year ago, up from 3.4 percent in August, according to Labor Department data released Wednesday morning. Inflation, unlike Starlink, remains fully operational.
