President Trump spent Sunday at the final round of the Presidents Cup golf tournament in Chicago, roughly a month after the PGA Tour named him the event's honorary chair. In brief remarks after arriving at Medinah Country Club, the president announced that the country "is doing great, better than ever before" - a claim that presumably tested well with the gallery, if not with anyone currently living in Iran.

Trump last attended the competition in 2017 during his first term, back when the stakes were, in fairness, considerably lower.

It has been a busy week for the president, who has engaged in several high-stakes meetings with foreign officials, most notably a three-day visit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York City continues through Tuesday. Nothing says global statesmanship quite like jetting from the UN floor to the back nine.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian appeared on CBS News's "Face the Nation" Sunday morning, a day after Trump rejected Iran's seven-day proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and enter a ceasefire. Another Islamic Republic official, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, was interviewed on NBC News's "Meet the Press." Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) said on ABC's "This Week" that Trump is "stuck" with the Iran war - a diplomatic position roughly as comfortable as it sounds.

Attorney General Todd Blanche, who also appeared on "This Week," defended the president's move to ban several news outlets from the White House last week before a federal judge ordered for their access to be restored. The First Amendment, it turns out, remains undefeated - at least until the next appeal.
