Slayyyter Cancels Tour Dates Because Vocal Cords Also Have Limits, Apparently
Slayyyter cancels UK/EU tour dates due to laryngitis and vocal cord tears, promises refunds and rebooking, because even pop stars need functioning vocal cords.
In a development that will surprise absolutely no one who has ever heard a human voice, pop singer Slayyyter has been forced to cancel the remaining UK and European dates of her Wor$t Girl in America tour on doctor's orders. In an Instagram story viewed by Pitchfork, the singer wrote, "I am heartbroken to share after multiple doctor visits i have laryngitis and vocal cord tears," adding, "Because of this, i am forced to cancel the remaining UK/EU dates to avoid permanent damage to my voice." Turns out vocal cords, like the rest of us, have a breaking point.
The scrapped stops include Copenhagen, Hamburg, Warsaw, Prague, Berlin, Antwerp, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Brighton, and London. Fans in those cities will have to settle for the full refunds Slayyyter has promised at point of sale. She also noted she is "already working on rebooking shows for next year," because nothing says "sorry I can't sing" like scheduling more singing.
In a follow-up note, Slayyyter elaborated that she has been ordered to go on medication and full vocal rest for at least two weeks. "I know how much time and effort is spent to come out to a show," she wrote. "Some of you have traveled, some of you have made costumes, and i am completely devastated to not be able to give you the shows you were planning for." She added that her team is "working hard to figure out a time to return so i can deliver an even bigger and better show for you all." The bar for "bigger and better" now includes "audible," which is a solid start.
Speaking of next year, Slayyyter is still slated to play dates in 2027 across Australia, New Zealand, and South America. Before that, she'll debut her Wor$t Girl companion album, Wor$t Man in America, on December 4. One assumes the vocal rest will be over by then, or at least the album will be. Either way, fans have refunds and a new album to look forward to - which is more than most tours offer after a cancellation.
