Families in Jersey have less than a week to apply for the Back to School Bonus, a one-off payment of up to £150 per child for uniforms, stationery, and other essentials. The scheme, announced by the last government in April, targets parents who don't receive income support and earn a combined £75,000 or less. The deadline is Friday 31 July, with funds landing in bank accounts in August. The Government of Jersey says the bonus is designed to ease cost-of-living pressures - because nothing says 'new school year' like a small financial miracle. Primary school kids get £100 each, secondary students get £150. Parents on Income Support need not apply; they'll get the bonus automatically in August. So if you're eligible and haven't applied yet, you might want to skip the procrastination and head to the government's website.
