For years, I have stood firmly on the analog side of the e-bike versus traditional bike debate, proudly arriving at work drenched in sweat like some kind of multitasking martyr. But testing the Hiboy P6 Fat Tire Electric Bike forced me to reconsider my position, at least temporarily. This 65-pound behemoth from Chinese brand Hiboy - available on Amazon - arrives in a massive box and requires minimal assembly (front wheel, handlebars, lights, and some wires; no tools beyond what’s provided). Its detachable battery takes about six hours to fully charge, offering 50 to 62 miles of pedal-assisted range, or about half that on pure electricity. The fat tires glide over almost any terrain, and the interface is refreshingly simple. I’m not ready to defect from Team Sweaty Commute, but the P6’s comfort and ease of use made me genuinely warm up to the concept. Just be warned: hauling this 65-pound bike into an SUV is a pain, and a ramp is recommended for regular transport.
