Apple is reportedly working on a “revamped” entry-level MacBook Pro that could launch as soon as the first half of 2027, according to Bloomberg. Because nothing says “urgent” like planning a redesign four years in advance. The company is also testing four new iPad Pros set to launch this spring, which will focus on “internal improvements” - the tech equivalent of saying your New Year’s resolution is “being a better person.”

The updated MacBook Pro will keep its 14-inch screen but adopt a design “in line” with Apple’s upcoming touch-screen MacBooks, which are expected between “the end of this year and early next year.” Those touch-screen laptops will reportedly feature a Dynamic Island-like pill at the top of the screen, because apparently we can’t have a Mac without a notch-like feature that eats into the display.

Apple last updated the base MacBook Pro in October with an M5 chip, and is now working on an M6 processor. Bloomberg notes that Apple “finished work months ago” on a different base MacBook Pro upgrade that keeps the current design and is scheduled to launch this year. So basically, Apple is juggling multiple MacBook Pro versions like a circus performer, except the audience is paying $2,000 for a laptop. Apple will then quickly move to the M7 line in 2027, including new Pro and Max chips - because chip generations are like buses: you wait ages for one, then two come along and you’re expected to upgrade.

As for the iPad Pros, they’ll retain 11-inch and 13-inch screens, last updated in October with the M5 chip. So the new ones will have… internal improvements. Shocking. We’re sure the marketing team is already drafting a press release about “the most powerful iPad ever.”
