The body of a 13-year-old girl who vanished over the weekend has turned up in the bushland of regional Victoria, and police are using their favorite grim euphemism: 'suspicious.'

Layla Jeffery's remains were discovered late Thursday afternoon in Donald, a small town in western Victoria. The teenager had been missing since July 4, last seen on McCracken Street in Donald, before an extensive search kicked off involving local cops, the dog squad, the air wing, and search and rescue specialists.

Police executed a warrant at a residential property in Donald on Friday, presumably looking for clues as to how a 13-year-old ends up dead in the bush. While formal identification is pending, authorities are fairly certain the remains are Layla's. The investigation continues, with the death officially classified as suspicious - because nothing about this is anything less.
