Lana Del Rey has apparently decided that one album's worth of delays, name changes, and general mysteriousness just wasn't cutting it. In an Instagram post on July 15, the singer revealed that her long-anticipated LP "Stove" will be accompanied by a second, companion album, which she claims will be completed in a month. She also shared what appears to be artwork for both records, though she didn't bother with small details like titles or release dates. Pitchfork has reached out to her representatives, presumably to ask what planet she's on.

In the post, Del Rey called the pair "two of my most beautiful pieces of work." She described "Stove" as "so lovely and intact as it was intended to be - a classic album if I may say, a lot of which we've toured and you've heard - but not all of it." The companion album, she added, is "a commentary of sorts on everything that has been going on, and the patience that was required - and the trust I had to have that not all the things that weren't working was just because of me." Because, you know, sometimes it's the universe's fault.

Del Rey first announced the follow-up to 2023's "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd" back in 2024. Since then, the album has allegedly undergone two name changes and experienced multiple delays, which at this point is basically a Lana Del Rey tradition. In the meantime, she's released the songs "Tough," "Henry, Come On," "Bluebird," and "White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter" (yes, that's the real title). She also teased more new music during a 2025 set at Stagecoach Festival, and just this April, wrote the theme song for a James Bond video game called "First Light." Because why not?

Del Rey's Instagram ramble continued with poetic musings about patience, doubt, and new beginnings, eventually culminating in a promise to finish the companion album in a month and send both to vinyl. "It certainly is two of my most beautiful pieces of work," she wrote, "rooted in what I thought would be made out of growth and joy but was peppered with a secondary compilation of songs that sprouted from doubt, hopefulness, and the understanding that new beginnings truly mean starting completely fresh and over." Or, in other words: expect the unexpected, and don't hold your breath.
