For over a century, insulin has been the trusty sidekick for type 1 diabetes patients, but the NHS is now rolling out a new treatment that can delay the disease's onset by years. Yes, you heard that right - years. And they're also ramping up screening to identify those who could benefit. Is this the dawn of a new era? Well, if you ask Dima and his mum Elena, who share their harrowing tale of learning Dima tested positive for developing type 1 diabetes and then bravely participating in the trial for the new drug, teplizumab, it might just be.

Parth Narendran, Professor of Diabetes Medicine at the University of Birmingham, and Dr Renuka Dias, Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital, are here to explain how these changes are transforming treatment.
