SpaceNews and RTX Invite You to a Webinar on Satellite Edge Computing, Because Space Apparently Needs More Buzzwords
SpaceNews and RTX are hosting a Nov. 5 webinar on satellite edge computing, because nothing says "national security" like a 45-minute Zoom call about cloud-native architectures.
Satellite operations are getting complicated. For national security missions, that means operators need faster decision-making, greater resilience, and the ability to adapt on orbit - which is a polite way of saying that the current approach of "launch it and hope" is no longer cutting it.
Enter SpaceNews and RTX, who are hosting a virtual event on Nov. 5 titled "Satellite Mission Management at the Edge." The 45-minute Zoom session (10 to 10:45 a.m. ET) promises to explore how emerging technologies and commercial capabilities are transforming satellite operations and enabling more dynamic, resilient, and affordable national security space missions. A recording will be posted shortly after, for those who prefer their edge computing on demand.
Speakers will discuss advances in mission management, edge computing, automation, and cloud-native architectures - because nothing says "national security" like moving your satellite data to the cloud and hoping the latency gods smile upon you. They'll also tackle the challenges of integrating new capabilities with legacy systems, which is industry-speak for "making the old stuff talk to the new stuff without starting a diplomatic incident."
The conversation will examine how modular approaches can accelerate technology upgrades, strengthen mission assurance, and improve affordability. In other words: can we make satellites that don't require a decade and a blank check to update?
RTX, for its part, is the company formerly known as Raytheon Technologies, with more than 180,000 global employees, 2025 sales of more than $88 billion, and headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. It pushes the limits of technology and science to redefine how we connect and protect our world - and also to sponsor webinars about it.
