Overmono, the Welsh electronic duo consisting of brothers Tom and Ed Russell, have announced they will release their second album, *Pure Devotion*, on August 7 via XL Recordings. The follow-up to their 2023 debut *Good Lies* features contributions from Ruthven, Kindora, Rock Floyd, and John Joseph Holt. To kick things off, they dropped the lead single “Lockup,” which transforms Birmingham post-punk group Fast Relief’s “What A Waste” into a driving, four-on-the-floor club track. You can listen to it below, assuming you’re not already too busy wondering what “four-on-the-floor” means.

The duo explained in a press statement that they wanted *Pure Devotion* to emphasize the physicality of the studio process, which apparently involves some truly questionable kitchen experiments. “We ran tape over magnets, blew up some speakers, and finally utilized that dirt-cheap, overclocked FX unit we snaffled years ago in Bromley,” they said. “We even oven-baked a cymbal covered in coffee grounds, crisps, and vinegar.” Because nothing says “pure devotion” like a snack-based percussion instrument.

Since releasing *Good Lies*, Overmono have kept busy refining their live act, touring the world, recording a Boiler Room set in Manchester, and performing at Glastonbury Festival. In 2024, they released a remix of the Streets classic “Turn the Page” and collaborated with Fred Again.. and Lil Yachty on the single “Stayinit.” For those keeping score, that’s one more collab with a rapper who named himself after a boat than most electronic duos can claim.

For context, Overmono’s “Good Lies” previously landed at No. 80 on The 100 Best Songs of 2023, proving that even electronic music can crack a list dominated by people singing about their feelings.

The full tracklist for *Pure Devotion* is as follows: 01 Lockup, 02 Knight In Shining Prada (feat. John Joseph Holt), 03 Slowmotion, 04 Even Angels Ghost (feat. Kindora), 05 Barum, 06 Mialon, 07 Laxbrook, 08 Gem Lingo (ovr now) (feat. Ruthven), 09 Adre, 10 Ballad (feat. Kindora and Rock Floyd), 11 After The Rain.
