Queensland police have charged a 48-year-old man with murder after remains believed to be those of missing woman Jana Armstrong were discovered in bushland. The remains, found by a group of hunters around 10:40 pm Saturday on Esk-Hampton Road at Redbank Creek, have not been formally identified, but investigators are confident they belong to Armstrong, who was last seen on Tuesday in Toowoomba.

Detective Acting Inspector Brian Collins told a media conference that the man was arrested at a home on West Street in Harristown, where he was found with Armstrong's four-month-old baby. The suspect is due to appear at Toowoomba magistrates court on Monday, charged with one count of domestic violence murder.

Police are appealing for dashcam or CCTV footage from the New England Highway and Esk-Hampton Road between 10:30 pm on July 7 and 1:30 am on July 8. A postmortem examination will determine the cause of death. Collins expressed condolences to Armstrong's family, calling the crime 'horrific and horrifying.'
