After a seven-year silence that had fans wondering if she'd joined a monastery or just gotten really into puzzles, Kelsey Lu is back with So Help Me God, dropping this Friday. To celebrate, she's announced a sprawling fall tour across North America, the UK, and Europe, because nothing says "I'm back" like spending months on a bus.
The tour news comes packaged with a music video for the single "Cutting Off the Head of a Ghost," which is either a literal instructional video or a metaphor. We're not sure, but the song is good.
Co-produced by Lu with the super-producer trifecta of Jack Antonoff, Yves Rothman, and herself, the album features guest spots from Kim Gordon, Sampha, Kamasi Washington, and Lady Jess. It's like a who's-who of people you'd want at a dinner party, assuming the dinner party is a recording studio.
For those who need a refresher, our 2019 review of her last album, Blood, is still available. Spoiler: we liked it.
The tour kicks off September 30 in Philadelphia and winds through major cities before hitting Europe in November. Full itinerary below for those who like planning their lives around live cello loops.
