On Wednesday, July 8, Balenciaga debuted its latest haute couture collection at Paris Fashion Week, marking the first show under freshly-appointed creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. But the real fashion statement came from the runway soundtrack: ANOHNI, who apparently can't stop breaking hearts, delivered a recorded performance covering verses from Selena's “I Could Fall In Love” and Lou Reed's “Perfect Day,” before launching into three of her own songs - "Miracle Now," “My Lord My Love,” and "Hope There's Someone." The show was a reminder that even in the world of overpriced fabric, art can still sneak in through the speakers.

ANOHNI and the Johnsons released their most recent album, My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross, in 2023. In 2024, the group shared a standalone song, “Breaking,” produced during the same sessions for that LP. More recently, ANOHNI appeared on the November 2024 Red Hot Organization benefit compilation Transa, contributing a cover of SOPHIE's “Is It Cold In The Water?” with Moses Sumney. Because apparently, one cover is never enough.
